Have no fear!

I am still here!  My Mom is FINALLY here!  WHOO HOO!  I probably won't be updating a whole lot while she is visiting - I want to spend every moment I can with her!  It's going to be SO hard to say goodbye  next week!

I've been doing pretty darned good!  I have not gone running in a little while but I have been stepping up the activity level so I think it is keeping the pounds away!  I had gained 6.5 pounds last week - YIKES!  I'm thinking it was mostly due to dehydration.  I was just having a hard time with my face pains.  It was really the worst bout of pains I have ever had to date.  I am going to see my doctor tomorrow and hopefully get a referral to a neurologist.  This week I decided I was NOT going to let that 6.5 pounds discourage me.  I worked really hard and ate really clean and guess what?  This week I was down 8. something pounds!  That means I am 2 lbs away from losing 50lbs at weight watchers!  56 if you count what Idid before WW!!  WHOO HOO!!

In other news - we have decided to switch back to the Y for our gym.  It's just too expensive to stick with the closer gym and still pay for Colin's swimming lessons and eventually Susie's gymnastics lessons.  It's cheaper to be a member.  Thankfully with the cooler weather coming, I will be able to run outside again and I can just hit the gym 2 - 3 times a week for my weight training.  That will be good - I have REALLY slacked on weight training.  I don't know why I do that.  I really ENJOY it - especially when I'm the only girl lifting free weights!  It's more an issue of getting back into a routine.  Colin starts school in two weeks - I should be able to get back on track really soon!

Well, I'm off - lots to do!!  Thanks for hanging on!  I hope I didn't lose all of you guys!  I LOVE reading all your responses!!!  Have a WONDERFUL day! -Monica

I give up.

The pain wins.  Today was EXCRUCIATING.  I have no words for how much pain I was in today.  I managed to get Colin to his swimming lessons, but then I had to call Pete to take the kids so I could go to the doctor.  What a HORRIBLE experience.  The doctor was a total asshat.  My usual doctor was out on vacation so I went to his on call doc.  This guy doesn't know me from a hole in the wall.  He didn't really seem to want to listen to me - I just got the impression that he wasn't actually hearing me.  Then he just wrote a prescription for anti seizure medication.  I was kind of pissed.  I was just telling him that I wanted to see a neurologist so I could have some treatment options.  He wouldn't refer me because he was not my usual doctor.  I have to wait until next week to see my doctor and then it takes three weeks to see a neurologist.  WHAT THE HELL?  I really don't like taking mediation - let alone something so serious as anti seizure medication!  I asked him what the side effects were and he said they were drowsiness, confusion, dizziness, and weight gain.  Then he looked at me and said "I guess I'm really going to have to monitor YOU for that."  WHAT THE HELL???  Seriously - look at my chart.  The last time I was here I weighed 50 pounds heavier!  Then the dill hole had the balls to say "I'm going to refer you to a dietitian."  AAAHHHH I wanted to kill him!  He is lucky I was in so much pain or I would have ripped him a new one.  So he left me in the room with the knowledge that my only course of action right now would be to take the medication that could cause me to gain weight - or be in excruciating pain.  Great.  I sat there for five minutes and just cried my eyes out.

After my appointment I went to the library and I found the ONLY book in the entire library chain about Trigeminal Neuralgia.  I then decided to try going to the chiropractor.  He got me in right away and he did these two HUGE snaps in my neck.  I felt better for about 15 minutes - which leads me to believe that it didn't really do anything.  I figured I would go to the pharmacy and talk to the pharmacist about the medication and see what he thought about it.  He told me the chances of weight gain are SO low - it's like a 2% chance.  I dont' know - the odds of getting trigeminal neuralgia are insane too yet here I am - not only that but I have it bilaterally - that is like 2% of the population!  I should buy a lottery ticket.  So I bought the medication along with some pain killers the doc prescribed - the anti seizure meds take about a week to start working so the pain killers should help.  Whatever - I can't take them when the kids are with me so I'm still going to be in pain. GRRRR.  Here I am at almost midnight and I still have not taken the anti seizure medication.  I don't know what to do.  I don't want to take it.  I'm AFRAID to take it.  I'm afraid of taking anything so strong.  On top of that - I will have to stop nursing Susie.  I know I don't nurse her very often but still.  I won't have a choice.  That hurts.  She is my last baby, this is the last time I will ever nurse a baby.  It's SOOO important to me.  I am just feeling overwhelmed right now.  For some reason I feel violated too.  I think because I am likely going to have my ability to nurse my child taken away from me.  I am just so torn.  I don't want to have a medication that makes weight loss even harder.  It's hard enough as it is.

This has been such a bad week.  I think I gained like 4 lbs.  It's probably not REAL pounds, but it still hurts to see it.  Tonight I hopped on the treadmill (it's a day off of running) and I put a movie on my kindle, and just walked for half an hour.  I also hooped for about 30 minutes earlier.  The hooping wasn't so great - I kept getting face pains.  When you're getting face pains on the treadmill you can keep going - hooping - not so much!

So to clarify my title, I give up and am going to start some sort of treatment for the pain.  I do NOT, however, give up on getting fit!  NEVER give up!!!

Thanks for reading.  I'm sorry my posts have become so ranty.  I hope people are still reading!  Hopefully I go back into remission for a while and I can get back to my chipper self!  Have a wonderful night! -Monica

Pushing through the pain....

The face pain that is.  I have been having a really bad time with my trigeminal neuralgia lately.  I mean bad.  Really bad.  The usual face pains have been coming SO much more frequently in the past week and they have been hurting more and lasting longer.  Well today the buzzing started again.  It feels like electricity buzzing under my skin.  It's uncomfortable and it hurts - almost burns.  The buzzing used to only be on my mouth and tongue but now it seems to have spread to my cheeks and the end of my nose.  I am in misery right now.  I'm having a real battle with myself in regards to starting medication or not.  It's the hardest decision I've ever had to make and I really don't know which way to go.  It should be against God's law for a mother to have excruciating pain in her face from kissing her children.  It's just wrong.  I am never going to stop though, no matter how much it hurts.  I will NEVER stop kissing my babies.

I never knew what my pain triggers were - I never really noticed any patterns before.  As things seems to be getting worse, the triggers are more obvious.  Kissing is one - really the puckering action, so kissing, using a straw, even just making silly faces with the kids.  Heat is a HUGE one.  Not really the heat from my body like when I'm hot from running, but heat from the sun or an external source.  The worst is walking into a store in the winter and they have those heat blowers at the entrance.  Wind is another trigger.  A huge change in temperature - like going inside to air conditioning from a very hot day.  Brushing my teeth can trigger it too.

Ok - I'm sorry, this is turning into a real bitchfest.  I'm proud of myself today though - even though I'm in so much pain, I  got my run in.  Wow have I ever lost some endurance.  I could only do 2 miles today and that was walk/run.  Granted, it could have been partially due to being in so much pain.  I don't think so though.  I'm glad I started adding incline to my run - I think that will only help me in the long term.

I've been getting better at hooping!  Now I can do TWO turns while hooping!  AWESOME!  Once I get a few tricks under my belt I will post a video of myself!  HA!  Just don't laugh at me!

My Mom comes this weekend!  YAY!  I'm SO excited to see her!  I love her SO much and I have really missed her this past year!  I think I'm actually more excited for the kids to be with her than myself!  <3

Well, I should probably take a shower ( just finished my run).  I'm kind of dreading it since I know the water will hurt my face.  I could take a bath, but the shower is faster and it will hurt when I wash my hair in the tub anyway.  :-/

Sorry for the Debbie Downer post - I hope you are all having a better day than I am!  Thanks for reading! -Monica

Missing my rings!!

I can't believe how much I miss my wedding rings!  I feel so naked without them!  Five more days and I get them back.  Even MORE awesome - on the same day I get my rings back - I get to pick my Mom up from the airport!  AAAAHHHHHH  I can't WAIT to see her!  This week is either going to crawl by (because I'm so excited to see my Mom) or it's going to FLY by (because we're so darned busy)!!  I have not decided which it will be - I suppose we shall see as the week progresses!  We've got 3 swimming lessons and a doctor's appointment this week - phew!  Not to mention a play date and I have to plan Colin's family and friend birthday party!  YIKES!

As for my running, I think I need to reevaluate my abilities.  I think 6.0 - no matter how much I want it - is not yet possible for me.  I'm starting the couch to 5k over again but this time I'm going to make my fast pace 5.0 or 5.5.  I'll have to see how it goes.  One thing I'm doing differently than the first bout of c25k - I'm setting the treadmill on an incline of 1.0.  I didn't know that running on 0 incline actually makes it easier than running outside.  That explains a lot actually!  I'm going to keep up with the hooping.  I'm not sure if I'm going to keep a long run on the weekends.  I don't want to overdo anything.

It dawned on me that I need to pick up the pace if I want to keep my 100lb in one year goal.  I'm hovering right around 50lbs down and I have 5.5 months left.  It's still doable - but I need to put my nose back to the grindstone.  I'm thankful that hooping makes exercise fun again!  I've heard it said that people tend to be more successful at weight loss in the winter or in the summer.  I am pretty sure I'm a winter kind of gal.  I HATE the heat.  I can't function when I'm not.  That and the heat makes my face pains act up.  On to that.....

My face pains were SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad yesterday.  Hands down the WORST face pain day I have ever had.  It seemed like I had another pain every 20 minutes.  They seem to last longer and be stronger too.  I know I should probably start medication but I really REALLY don't want to.  I guess I'm just not thrilled at the prospect of being on medication for my entire life.  Especially when the pains come and go in bouts.  It's very frustrating and very painful.

Well, I'm calling it a night.  Hubby rented The Hunger Games - I read it but I'm curious to see how the movie compares to the book!!

Thanks for reading!  Have a wonderful night!! -Monica

Unconventional workout....

I didn't do my usual run.  I know I keep bitching about the heat but I seriously can't take it anymore!  I really can't wait for the fall!  This morning was my weight watcher's meeting.  Pete woke up late for work so instead of taking the bus, he took our van.  That meant I had to take the bus to my meeting - with both kids.  Good times.  I decided I would just walk to weight watchers, since it was only like 2 miles or so.  Well, Colin - after about a half mile - told me he couldn't walk anymore.  I couldn't take the complaining anymore, so I put him on my shoulders.  Picture this - mid to high 70's - strong sunshine which made it feel hotter, walking with a 5 year old on my shoulders while pushing a 1 year old in an umbrella stroller.  By the time I got to the meeting I was sweating like a pig!   At least I had a good loss this week!  2.6 lbs this week!  YAY!

It was 100 degrees today - it's supposed to be the same tomorrow.  YUCK!  Today I took the kids out in the kiddie pool and we had a blast!  Even the baby was laughing and splashing!  We have this foam doohickey that looks like a long cylinder.  You pull the top section and it sucks up water - then you can shoot it out.  I like it a lot because I'm not a big fan of kids having guns - not even water guns.  This way you get the FUN of a water gun without the gun.  Anyway - we all took turns squirting each other.  Then Colin squirts me right in the butt and he yells "MOMMY - I GOT YOU IN THE BUTTCRACK!".  Oh Lord, of COURSE he yells this as my neighbor is getting out of his car.  That child has a special skill for embarassing me! HAHAHA

Pete has tomorrow off due to a furlough day.  I'm really looking forward to spending the time together!  The cut in pay sucks - but having more time together is always fun!

Well, I'm going to call it a short post tonight.  I think we're going to look for a movie!

Thanks for reading!  Have a GREAT night! -Monica

Cool unforeseen milestone!!!

Today I brought my wedding rings in to be re sized!  They were too big!  They kept flinging off my hand!  AWESOME!    The guy at the jewelry store told me they were going to clean, replate (it's white gold), resize, and solder them.  He was all excited - he said they were going to look AMAZING!  How awesome is it that they do all of this for free!

Yesterday I got my run in.  I did it on the treadmill because it was so freaking hot.  It was 94 today and the next two days are supposed to be 100.  YUCK!

Today we went to my son's eye doctor up in the city.  We have to start putting eye drops in his "good" eye.  This will make the vision blurry in the good eye so it will force him to use his weaker eye and therefore make it stronger.  Since we have to dilate his one eye twice a week (and the doctor said it could possibly STAY dilated for days after the drops are instilled) we had to get him some sunglasses.  Of course, they had to have his prescription.  OY, this kid's eyes are very expensive.  The eyeglass store had a buy two for $99 deal - I only had to pay $20 more to make one pair sunglasses.  My son picked out his sunglasses - I think it's funny that he wanted this black plastic frames!  When I was a kid we would have screamed bloody murder if someone suggested we wear frames like that!  I picked out a "regular" pair of glasses so he could have a backup pair.  They had closed the lab by the time we got there, so they will make them tomorrow and mail them out.  We should get them by Friday.  I'm looking forward to seeing how cute and nerdy he looks in those sunglasses - I am NOT looking forward to putting drops in his eye.  I can only imagine how much he is going to fight that!

Tomorrow is weight watcher's.  I'm going to go, even though I have not been doing very well.  I've got to get past this mental block I have when it's hot out.  I seriously don't want to do ANYTHING!  I am SO not a hot weather person.  I never have been and I probably never will be!

Just a little note - I know I have not updated my little running ticker on the side of the blog - wow have I been lazy.  I've still been running, just not logging it.  My hubby gave me a subscription to Runner's World and it came with a training journal - I think I'm going to start logging in there.  I seriously can't wait for the fall so I can get back to running outside!!!!

Let's just say, my son has become a bowling fiend.  He LOVES it.  He wants to do it EVERY DAY!  There is a cool program at our local bowling alley where kids can bowl 2 games for free every single day - you just have to rent shoes.  They also have a program where you can pay 30 bucks  and 4 adults can bowl 2 games every single day  - you just have to rent shoes.  I seriously wish I had bowling shoes!    Still - it's a great deal and we've been going a lot.  They had this deal where you could text some word to their number and you'd get $5 off of your next visit.  Pete and I both did it so we got $10 off - that meant we only paid 2 bucks for us all to bowl 2 games!  It was awesome!  Too bad the text thing is only a one time deal!

Well, we went again yesterday.  It was SO fun!  Colin is actually pretty darned good!  He scored a 72 yesterday and he picked up 2 spares!  WOW!  Granted, we had bumpers - but still!  He was neck and neck with Peter for like 6 frames!!  I have been doing pretty well - I can break 100 most times and a lot of times I am getting about 160 - I have not bowled in like six years and not regularly in about 15 years!  I had gotten a strike and I really wanted to try to get two more so I could say I got a turkey.  I approached the lane and started to "wind up"  as I was about to throw the ball, I slipped on the ground somehow, nailed myself on the side of my leg and fell flat on my ass.  It was so graceful. HA!  Colin yells out MOMMY IS YOUR BUTT OK?  Thanks baby, if people didn't see me do it, they now saw me sitting on the ground in front of the lane.  The funny part?  I almost got a strike!  The last pin was wobbling!  Today I have a NASTY bruise on my leg from the ball!  I think the reason I fell was because my hip flexors are SOOOOOO sore from hooping and running!  I couldn't get a great shot, but you can see the huge bruise forming - if you look closely, you can see the word Ebonite branded in the bruise. lol Just kidding!

I've slowly started to slip with eating again.  Sheesh.  I have been staying within my points budget so technically I am not screwing off, but I know I could be making better choices.  :-/    I don't know what my problem is.  I honestly think it's the heat.  I don't want to cook when it's this friggin hot, so it's easier to pick up a bucket of chicken or order a pizza.  Lame excuse, I know.  It's the truth - I HATE being hot.  I wonder if that will change when I'm thinner?

Yesterday was so crazy busy.  Pete called me at 8 am to tell me he signed Colin up for swimming lessons that were to begin at 9 am. Wow - talk about morning hustle!  The night before we discovered that the dog ATE Colin's favorite toy - Woody.  Colin came up to me and said "Mommy, Shimano ate woody BAD."  OH MY GOD that is an understatement. I had to fight the laughter! We spent the day driving ALL over town looking for a replacement.  We didn't find one.  I can't find one online either.  Colin is devastated.  I decided to take him out for a birthday lunch at Red Robin.  That made him feel a little better - especially when they sang Happy Birthday to him and gave him a free sundae!  After that we took Susie to get her stitches out.  Pete got out of work early and wanted to go look at some firewood from Craig's list.  It was a bust.  Then we went to toys r us to buy Colin his birthday gift - he picked out a cool hotwheels playset with a dinosaur!  Then we went bowling.  PHEW it was a LOOOOOOOOOONG day!

Today I'm cleaning - my house has gotten away from me and I am currently suffering from C.H.A.O.S --- Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome. lol  There is a lot to be done before my Mom's visit and honestly - I just want to hoop. HA!

Today  is going to be laid back since tomorrow is destined to be another busy day!  You'd think I should be thin what with all this running around I do!

Thanks for reading!  Have a wonderful day! -Monica

Slowly improving!!

At hooping!  Wow am I in love with hooping!  It's so much fun - but it really is a heck of a workout!  You wouldn't really think it was much of on until you do it!  Yesterday I couldn't go for more than 30 seconds or so at a time, today I went for 3 minutes straight!  My abs are so sore from yesterday!  I really can't wait to be able to do tricks!  My friend totally blows me away!  I love when she posts videos - she makes it look so easy!  As she forewarned me - I have a few bruises from the hoop.  She calls them hoop kisses. HA!!!  I have a heck of a "kiss" on my ankle.  WHOOF it hurts when that hoop comes down on your ankle bone!

Today my eating was pretty great.  I kept within my points and I even splurged for an ice cream tonight.  Yeah, I know - splurges two days in a row.  I figure as long as I keep within my points then all is good!  I didn't get my run in today - that would be due to the fact that my daughter would NOT take a nap today.  I think she was just so congested, she didn't want to lay down.  I was so annoyed.  I had FINALLY gotten her down, I got my workout clothes on and I was putting on my running watch when she woke up.  She slept for all of 15 minutes.  Frustrating.  Tonight was "On Your Feet Friday", so I had to slap together dinner and lug it along with us so we could pick Pete up from work.  Then we did the OYFF - about a mile and a half of walking.  It was so fun!  Then I got home, bathed the kids and got them off to bed and decided that I wanted to hoop instead of run.  At least I got a lot of exercise in today.  My WW pedometer says I earned 17 extra points!  That's pretty darned awesome!  My legs are really quite achy right now.  I'm thinking an advil PM may be in order.  I really could use a good night's sleep.  I don't get them very often.  I usually wake up with a 4 year old laying across my body in some weird position.  This morning I woke up with him laying across my ankles.  Not very conducive to a good, deep sleep.  :-P   So here is today's eating - I didn't take any pics.  I guess I just couldn't be bothered.  HA!  At least I'm being honest!

Breakfast:  strawberry oikos (greek yogurt) coffee with 1 equal and 2 TBS ff creamer : 4 WW points

Lunch:  Lower sodium Ham and cheese pannini, broccoli :  10 points

Snack: pretzels : 2 points

Dinner: Lower Sodium Turkey and cheese on whole wheat hoagie roll with lettuce, tomato, and pickle, watermelon:  12 points

Dessert: Mcdonald's caramel sundae (OMG my favorite): 10 points

Total for today was 38 points - I get 34 so I used 4 of my activity points (I earned 17, remember?!)  I'm pretty hungry right now, I may just go to bed.  I usually have a cup of hot tea every night before bed (decaf) - right now that sounds REALLY good to me!    Who are we kidding, I will probably do a little more hooping!  I'm an addict!

I'm pretty excited for the weekend!  I LOVE spending time with my hubs!  We've been together for 12 years and I honestly love him even more now than I did then!!  I miss him so much during the week and I know he feels the same!  My Mom is coming out to visit in 2 weeks - we are CRAZY excited around here!  Every day that passes brings my Mom that much closer!  Colin and Susie LOVE their grandma SO MUCH!  I wish we didn't live so far apart.  My Mom is the best grandma EVER!  My kids are lucky!

Ok, I'm rambling.  I'm tired, achy, and wanting to hoop some more. HA!  Have a WONDERFUL night!  Thanks for reading!! -Monica

Hoopity hooptiy doo!!

Today was another good day!  So it started with hubby waking me up because he missed the bus.  I had to wake both kids up, pile in the car, and drive him in.  Then we had to wait for the roofers to come and finish the roof.  Susie turned up with Colin's cold.  WOW - it was like one thing after another!  I was in a bad mood because I was so tired.  I'm sure I yelled at Colin more than I should have.  I hate when I'm like that.  Oh well, today is over - tomorrow is a new day!  I ate well today - I had one crappy thing, but I kept within my points budget so I'm totally cool with it!

We picked Pete up from work and went to dinner (we had to be out and about so we hit up Red Robin).  I like that you can customize your food on their website and then figure out the nutritional value.  It turns out, if you order the grilled chicken sandwich on a cibiatta bun with BBQ sauce, it's only 10 points!  SWEET!  No fries - I got steamed broccoli instead - zero points.  The crappy thing I had was hubby and I split an order of mozzarella sticks.  They figured out to be 2 points each - I had 2 and a half.  OMG they were HEAVEN!  I'd choose those over fries ANY day of the week!  I've had the Red Robin Royalty card for a while but since we don't go there often, I never really get any benefit from it - until today.... we got a free burger!  COOL!  What an awesome surprise!!  Pete's dinner was free!  Then we went to shopko to scout out birthday gifts for our son - I can't believe he is going to be 5!  Disgusting!  Then we went really way out into the farm country because Pete talked to this guy who cut down a tree and didn't want the wood.  We picked up what we could with the van and then Pete will go back for the rest.  I LOVE that Pete has found an alternative way to heat our home for free!  Just the price of some manual labor!

Anyway - meals went like this:
Breakfast: 1 egg, 1 white with red bell pepper, 2 slices low sodium bacon, sauteed potatoes (1 oz), coffee with equal and 2 TBS FF creamer: 5 points

Lunch:  leftover turkey burger from yesterday.  1 bun, 1 tsp ketchup, 2 slices of dill pickle, watermelon - 10 points

snack: blueberries with 2 TBS FF coolwhip - 0 points

Dinner: Red Robin - as explained above - 15 points

Snack: pretzels: 2 points

That is all my points.  I did earn 11 extra points according to my pedometer, I may use a few of those since I'm feeling quite hungry right now.

Exercise - there was a little change of plans.  I didn't go do my upperbody workout.  Here is why.  MY HOOP CAME!!  YIPPEE!!  This is where the hoopity hoopity doo comes from!  I had ordered a hula hoop a few weeks ago and it finally came!  Today's workout ended up being hooping!  I can't wait to improve!  Right now I totally suck - but my friend D is AMAZING and makes it look SO fun and easy.  Well, it's not easy - I'll tell ya that much!  WOW is it ever a workout!  I was sweating like mad after only a few minutes!  I really am looking forward to getting better at it!!!

Well, I had better get going - I'm beat!  I want to hoop a little more before bed. HA!

Have a great night!!  Thanks for reading!! -Monica

Day 2 down!

YAY!  I finished day 2 of my couch to 5k program... take 2!  I was originally planning on doing a run/run faster sort of program but I quickly realized that this was not going to work for me.  I switched to doing the program the way it was written.  Now that I have a running base, I can do the running portions faster.  The first time I did the C25K 4.5 was my run on the treadmill - this time around I'm doing 6.0.  WOWSER is that hard!  My legs are KILLING me right now!  I LOVE it!

Today was actually the best day I've had in a long time!  I ate very well and I ran very hard!  I even took pictures of all of my meals to post!  I'm happy to report that I have 7 points left and I plan on having dessert!  So here is what I ate today:

Breakfast: 1 slice of low sodium bacon (it is AWESOME - VERY low sodium and tastes awesome!)  1 egg, 1 egg white scrambled with lots of broccoli, red bell pepper, and carrot.  Coffee with 1 equal and 2 TBS of FF creamer - TOTAL: 4 WW points

Lunch:  turkey burger with a half of a slice of low sodium bacon chopped up and mixed in the patty (WOW was this awesome!) I grilled it on the gas grill - it was PERFECT!  2 slices of dill pickles, 1 TBS ketchup - well, not REALLY that much, but I screwed up my counting so I just went with it) lots of broccoli - TOTAL: 11 WW points

Dinner: 1 cup pasta, 1/4 cup turkey gravy, 4 oz turkey breast chopped up and sauteed, broccoli (not much though, I screwed up the broccoli as only I could do) TOTAL: 10 WW points

I had a LOT of watermelon today, if I got hungry, I had some watermelon.  It really helped curb my appetite! It also helps tame my sweet tooth!  I also had some blueberries with 4 TBS FF cool whip - that was 1 point.

I have so far had 9 glasses of water - I'll go and get my 10th after I finish writing!

YIPPEE!!  I met the goals I set for myself yesterday!  I think I'll set goals for tomorrow too!!

1. Eat properly!
2. Get my upper body workout done
3. Drink 10 glasses of water
4. Post everything on here to keep myself accountable (wouldn't a McDonald's run be embarrassing?! LOL)

Aside from my healthful goals today, we had a busy day!  We had the roof torn off today - turns out the underlayment was bad.  That means the estimate was bullshit and we had to pay an extra $2000.  That hurt.  Let's just say, we could get a very nice used car with what we are paying for this damned roof.  They should get it finished tomorrow.  Honestly - I can't wait to see what it looks like!

My kids kept me on my toes with Colin's cold (and breathing treatments to help with his coughing) and the fighting to get some medicine into him.  Then Susie's stitches and keeping the bandages clean and dry and having to change them and apply ointment 3 times a day. PHEW I'm BEAT!  I just sent hubby out for some advil PM.  NEVER have my legs ached as bad as they do right now!

All in all, I'm proud of myself today!  I proved to myself that I CAN get back on the wagon after falling off!  I just had to pick the hay out of my hair and brush off some horse poop first!

Thank you for reading!  Have a WONDERFUL night! -Monica

Rest day...

Today was a rest day.  Good thing too - my legs are SCREAMING at me from yesterday's run!  I'm actually dreading tomorrow's run!  It's weird to go from feeling like I had a good running base to feeling like a beginner all over again!

My eating has been really bad lately.  Partially due to it being so friggin hot and I just don't want to do anything in the kitchen.  I have got to get this back under control.  Especially since my workouts had dropped off for the last week!  I think a HUGE part of that is the fact that I have not been drinking my water.  Foolish in this heat, I know.  I'm going to put this out here to keep myself accountable.  Tomorrow I will:

1. Drink at least 10 8oz glasses of water.
2. Stay within my weight watcher's points budget.
3. Do my run
4. Post everything I eat tomorrow! (scary prospect!)

Maybe if I do a few days of posting everything I eat, it will kick my butt back into gear!  I'm so pissed at myself for slipping.  I know I'm human - but I don't want to lose all my hard work!  I really worked VERY hard to lose this weight and I am not finished!

Tomorrow is going to be exciting.  We are getting a new roof.  We have really needed one but it is SO darned expensive.  It hurts to pay for this, but it needs to be done.  Boy, you know you're a home owner when you're excited to get a new roof!  Shoot, I could have bought a new car with that money!  I'm not kidding - it's spendy!

Well, I'm going to take some advil and put my feet up.  I'm not kidding - my legs really really ache!  That 6.0 on the treadmill is HARD for me!  I'm really nervous and scared for tomorrow!!

Achy and Sore!!

Or as my husband thought I said, achy as a whore.  Sheesh - why the hell would I say that?  He cracks me up!   Today was my first real workout in a week.  Pathetic huh?  I really took a break after that 10k.  I finally started my 5k to faster program (just a couch to 5k program that I changed from walk/run to run/run faster).  The first day was HARD!  I was kind of surprised at how hard it was.  I did it on the treadmill since it was so frigging hot out.  Anyway, I started with an incline of 1 and a speed of 6.0 - I did that for one minute and then went to a speed of 4.0 for a minute and a half.  I just alternated for 15 minutes (it was supposed to be 20 but my son was being obnoxious).

We had a rather exciting morning - and not in a good way.  My daughter got cut pretty badly and I had to rush her to the ER for stitches.  Thankfully it was only on her hand and it should be better within a week - but still.  I was really very upset about it.  I'm not looking forward to putting neosporin and fresh bandages on it tomorrow - honestly - I'm kind of freaked out about it.  When you're a mom though, you do what you have to do!  I'm just thankful the cut wasn't worse and that it was only on her hand.  Long story short - she had gotten ahold of my husband's measuring tape - she must have been holding the metal tape part and then pressed the retract button.  I swear, if there is something you don't want your kids to have - they will find a way to get it anyway.  What a scary morning.  I'm just glad she is ok, my poor baby girl!

It also appears that my son is coming down with a cold.  I swear -when it rains it pours.  I hope it clears up soon and that it doesn't pass on to anyone else.  Who are we kidding.  I should be sick within the week.  I swear, my son has no immune system.  That child gets sick monthly.

I think I'm going to add a few days of easy jogging to my weekly workouts.  I just think I need to kick it up a bit.

Sorry I've been gone so long.  Some things have changed around here which should lend to me being able to get more things done in a day.  That SHOULD include blogging!  I hope I have not lost any readers!!!

Thanks for reading!  Have a wonderful night!! -Monica
